We're not your typical architecture firm, and honestly, that's the whole point.
Started this whole thing back in 2015 after spending way too many years watching beautiful heritage buildings get torn down for yet another glass box. There's gotta be a better way, right?
Turns out there is. We've spent the last decade proving that you can respect what came before while still pushing forward. No need to choose between history and progress - that's a false choice if I've ever heard one.
Vancouver's got this incredible architectural heritage, and we're not about to let it disappear. But we're also not stuck in the past. Every project we touch gets the same treatment: thoughtful design that actually works for how people live today, built with materials and methods that won't wreck the planet.
Buildings should last. Like, actually last. Not just 20 years before someone decides to knock 'em down.
Every site tells a story - our job is to listen before we start drawing.
Sustainable doesn't mean sacrificing beauty. Anyone who says otherwise isn't trying hard enough.
The best designs come from collaboration, not ego trips.
Opened the studio with one desk, two computers, and way too much coffee. First project was a Craftsman restoration in Kitsilano that everyone said couldn't be saved. Proved 'em wrong.
Hired our first team members and moved to the Granville Street studio. Won a heritage conservation award for the Shaughnessy project. Started realizing we might actually be onto something here.
Launched our sustainable architecture division. Not as a separate thing, but baked into everything we do. Completed our first net-zero heritage retrofit - people thought we were crazy combining those two concepts.
BC Architecture Awards finalist. Published in a few magazines we actually read. But honestly, the real win was seeing our clients living happily in spaces we designed together.
Team grew to 15 talented folks who actually care about this stuff. Started consulting on municipal heritage policy - trying to make it easier for others to do what we do.
We're working on some of the most exciting projects of our career. Heritage restorations, new sustainable builds, everything in between. Still learning, still pushing, still giving a damn about getting it right.
We've got architects, designers, heritage specialists, sustainability nerds, and a couple people who just know how to make buildings actually work. Everyone brings something different to the table, which is exactly the point.
No rockstars, no egos - just folks who care deeply about making good buildings that'll be around for a long time.
Every project starts with listening. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how many architects skip this part. We wanna know what you need, what the site's telling us, what makes sense for the neighborhood.
Then we get into the fun part - designing something that hits all those notes while still being beautiful and functional. Lots of sketches, models, conversations. We don't disappear for months and come back with "the answer" - this is a collaboration.
Whether you're restoring a heritage gem or building something new with sustainability at its core, we'd love to hear what you're thinking.
